WELCOME!
Five Valley Chorus celebrated 50 years of harmony!
The Five Valley Chorus of Missoula, Montana, was founded in 1971 and is a registered chorus with the Sweet Adelines International organization. This chorus, comprised of around 25 core members throughout western Montana, meets weekly to sing and learn the barbershop style of singing.
To add to the excitement we have additional ladies from throughout Montana who are exercising their option for dual membership. When preparing for contest, the combined chorus practices together one Saturday each month in preparation for contests and performances.
The chorus is dedicated to performing vocally in the classic American four-part acapella harmony, also known as barbershop music. Five Valley Chorus holds many Regional titles in Region 24 (the region included Montana, Oregon, southern Idaho and southwestern Washington) and has been privileged to compete on the International level eight times! Now part of Region 13, Five Valley Chorus is making new friends in Washington, northern Oregon, northern Idaho and Alaska!
Extensive musical training is not required to join, and it is not necessary to know how to read music. We sing, have ongoing education, learn choreography and strive for excellence. Each member sings as part of the full chorus, although some members form quartets to showcase their unique talents. Quartets perform with the chorus at public performances and shows and may choose to compete at regional contests.
